December 31, 2011

Happy New Years Eve!!

Today was a whole lot of nothing. I slept fairly well, and didn't even get up until 8:45 a.m.

Ate breakfast, checked email, laid down for 30 minutes (?)  /took a quick shower, and went to bed for another two hours. Forced myself to get up at noon. They I Skyped for about 15 minutes with Kylie, Alexa and Pete. It was nice to see them!!

Watched a little t.v. and took a third nap. Just got home from Sat night pizza and I think I've got to go to bed already. I'm just beat.

Until tomorrow.... Don't say up all night and be safe everyone What can we do for Jesus in 2012???

December 30, 2011

I'm tired. I'm weak. I thank Jesus I didn't have to go anywhere today. I think I slept more today than I was awake. So nothing exciting to report, but nothing bad either.

Got up 8ish and had to take a nap by 10. Up at Noon and back to bed by 3, but slept til 6. Ready to head to bed.

Thank you for your continued prayers and encouragement. I need everyone of them.

Until tomorrow....... another day with "nothing to do" (yeah!) although I have lots of bookkeeping/budgeting (for this years tax return) I would like to take care of if I have enough energy. Here's hoping!

Good Night!

December 29, 2011

What a day!

Got picked up at 7:30 after a fairly decent night's sleep. Had my labs drawn at 8:40 a.m. and then went to breakfast. Had Speech therapy at 10:00 a.m. and a wonderful  massage at 11:00. Since I now had almost 2 hours to kill before my Dr's apt to see if I could start chemo today or not, I took a 45 minute cat nap in the tv room. Didn't feel ill or anything, just wanted my eyes closed so I'd have energy for the rest of my day.

After my cat nap I had lunch, and then went to my Team apts. where I found out my blood platelets rose a bit, but not enough for chemo through the port. But since this cancer is growing, he wants to start me on something!  So I started this evening after getting home on Cytoxan, a chemo pill for the next 14 days. Since I have so many other reactions to the meds etc he does not want me to travel until he sees how I react to the chemo. So I'm here at least until 1/3.

And I have to return here on 1/12. Already have my flight scheduled.

They will check my labs on 1/3 and decide when I get to go home. Then I'll have labs at home on 1/10 before returning on 1/12.

When I was 'almost' done for the day, my friend from Vernal, UT; Cathy Meek, who now lives in Tuscon, AZ; whom I have not seen in 15 years was able to join me for coffee and a sandwich because she was in town. It was so nice to see her!!!

Here is where I claim TMI, stop reading if you chose. Once we sat down in the cafe for her lunch. (I'd already eaten) I started to feel sick, and lost my lunch. As soon as my legs steadied (or so I thought) I went and picked my RX's so I could go home. But I became too unsteady on my feet and had to stick around and have the staff check me out to go home. They took my vitals and ordered another chest x-ray because I was short of breath, and checked my blood sugar. Had to wait a long time for the x-ray and even longer for the radiologist to not call with a report. The Dr. decided the x-ray was ok and didn't want me to wait any longer. I'd been there for over 2 hours. He felt it was safe to send me to Uncle Hal's.

Once I got to Hal's, I took my anti-nausea meds and at a small salad so I could take my first chemo pill. Although I had the RX for the chemo, I didn't get sick because of it; at least not yet.

I'm headed to bed within the next few minutes. I'm beat. But I don't have to be back there before 1/3 unless I have any complications between now and then. I can just rest, rest, rest and visit.

God Bless....Until later...

December 28, 2011 - Evening

Hello again! I feel GREAT!

I had my chemo port placed this morning at 8:30 and was released to Uncle Hal's 'custody' before 11:00 a.m. We had lunch then had to hang out at the facility for all my follow up apts with the Dr's.

Unfortunately, my blood platelets count is too low and they won't promise chemo tomorrow. Soooo, my day starts tomorrow at 8:20 with a lab draw, then speech therapy (just in case), then a massage!!! Woo Hoo!

Then after lunch I'll meet with the oncologist to see if we can do chemo tomorrow or not. If not.... I probably won't make it home before the middle of next week due to New Years etc.

Until tomorrow....God Bless

December 28, 2011 - a.m.

Good Morning All. Sorry I didn't post yesterday. It was a L-O-N-G day.

I was up at 4:30 to get ready for my flight to Phoenix. Folks and kids dropped me at the airport at 6:30. Flight was good, no weather or turbulence etc. Picked up at the airport and came straight to the facility for my lab draw. Had lunch with Patty & Peggy a mother daughter unit that have been here since JULY! Patty has anal cancer and her radiation is complete today!! She gets to ring the bell!! Unfortunately she has to come back again in three weeks. But she's so excited to go home to Alaska.

I laid down for a 30 minute cat nap in the tv room before I had my appointment with my team of Dr's. Everything is good to go. Today I'll have my chemo port placed...lol..I almost said 'installed'. Uncle Hal is my caretaker for today. I'm so blessed to have family here with me. Thank you Jesus!

I slept ok last night, actually rather well, despite a few very odd dreams. Please pray for my dry nose. Not sure if it's meds or climate.

Not sure if I'll be up to posting tonight. If nothing else, I'll try to have Uncle Hal or Andy put something on my facebook wall.

Until later....Thanks for your prayers!!!

December 26, 2011 - Good Night

Hi all! I really need to head to bed. Almost packed. Gotta get up too early though.

My flight is at 8:00 a.m. so I won't be posting before I leave. I don't arrive in Phoenix until 10:00 a.m. where they will pick me up and bring me to the facility. I'll have labs drawn and see my Oncologist, Dr. Nixon and then we'll plan the week. My rash is fading, so I think we're on schedule for the Chemo Port to be placed on Wednesday.

I'll be staying at my Uncle Hal's for my Chemo Treatments. God has blessed me with family to be with me during this trial. Really wish I'd made it to AZ prior to this. Maybe when this is all over we'll take the kids to the Grand Canyon. Hailey's old enough to appreciate it now.

The real trials begin tomorrow.....

December 26, 2011 - URGENT Prayer Request.

Hello! Sad to report I didn't sleep the best last night, although I did get over 8 hours of rest. I really over did it yesterday. I missed a pain med too, and paid for it overnight, gotta quit doing that. More good news the rash is slowly going away, keep the prayers coming.

Yesterday my wonderful eldest son, Troy, and my Dad installed a beautiful handrail on my steep stairs into my basement. Troy did a fabulous job of staining it and assisting Papa in the installation. He's been learning all sorts of honey do type projects helping Dad not be bored. They fixed my coffee table that had a broken leg & re-set the dishwasher that had come disconnected from the counter top, (people can be so rough when they do their chores.) Things that Howard just hasn't had time to get to. We are so blessed!

Mom, Dad, Trevor & I returned an unnecessary bracket to Home Depot. Trevor wanted to exchange his old DS and games for some used XBox games & a Controller since he chose a refurbished machine for his b-day/Christmas gift. I think he's pleased with his exchanges, 2 games & controller because of the after Christmas specials.

Then we got some groceries at Walmart and headed home after a quick lunch. Then I took a 2 hour much needed nap.

Urgent prayers needed!! I messed up!
I put a freezer pack from my fridge into the freezer, I thought it was Howard's lunch pack. It was with Dad's insulin!!!
Pray that either it clears up or he's able to control his diabetes through his eating...FYI..he doesn't always eat the right foods! He won't eat the right vegetables etc. My folks are going to drop me at the airport in the morning and then after dropping the kids back here at the house, they will head toward Denver to stay with Mom's cousin Jenny for two nights.

Continue to pray for good weather and safe roads and the best route home for them home. They hope to be back in Maryville, TN Sat or Sunday. They have no need to rush but no one can afford too many hotels along the way.

Until tomorrow....
