Today/last night was a very surreal day for me. I stated in my evening post that I was headed to bed super early, 7ish, because I was 'asleep on my feet' and was really looking forward to the rest. Yet after taking all my bedtime RX's and climbing in I started reading a book to unwind and turn off the brain. It had the opposite effect and I ended up watching TV until a more reasonable bedtime of 10:30. But here is where it got odd; I had 'alert rest' almost all night, in and out of sleep, but not in a lot of pain either, Thank You Jesus! Didn't want to get up, but my mind didn't always shut off, (thank you Decadron).
I got up before 9 am and went to breakfast feeling a bit like my blood sugar had dropped. Yet after returning to my room, I lost 75% of my breakfast and went back to bed for 2 hours of almost real sleep. I don't tell you these, 'TMI details', to have you feel sorry for me. I'm just sharing my day and my experiences, to answer every ones "How was your day?" questions and be honest, (it might get graphic down the road,) about what is happening. I can have an 'off day' and still have the 'joy of the Lord' and I do! A relationship with Christ isn't always sunshine and roses, look at what HE did on the Cross for US!
The nighttime mind wanderings have been amazing and they are usually filled with prayer and praise about everything that has happened, the people I've met, and the amazing results I've seen since my diagnosis. For instance, I know of at least 2 sister's-in-law, both a couple years older than I who have scheduled their own mammograms since my diagnosis. This is a good thing! One day I'll create a blog with many of the praises and night time thoughts I've had since arriving.
I only had my radiation treatment and my first follow-up visit with Dr. Chong my Radiological Oncologist. He is very pleased with my lack of side effects of the radiation and is thrilled that the morphine is finally helping me, rest, if not yet sleep. My mental stress level is better, and I'm mellow thanks to the lower pain levels. It feels rather nice.
The folks are on the road! Not sure of the ETA, they'll keep it slow and watch the weather. I'm sure they'll be here before Monday.
By the way, did I ever tell you they gave me five tattoos?
Hee hee, think of an Ultra Fine sharpie pen, I have 3 polka dots going up my right thigh, and one on each hip! Hailey can play dot-to-dot on my leg!
One last request before I go; my cousin Andy, who has been here for me this month, as needed, just was informed his company was sold. Last time we spoke, he isn't sure of the next steps etc, and I don't know the details yet. Pray for a smooth transition, should he stay? should he go? Is there a compensation package? the works of, 'What next?' type questions when you've held a long term job.
Until later...Many Blessings to you all!
1Cor.15:57: THANKS BE TO GOD WHO GIVES US THE VICTORY THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.
"HE will give the victory into thy hands, if only thou wilt fight manfully by HIS side, trusting not in thyself, but in HIS POWER AND GOODNESS". (Thanks Donna for today's verse)
